who I am

Languages, the other people & me

Communicating, understanding each other, that's life!

Languages and other people have always played a central role in my life. I began with a literary baccalaureate in three languages (English-German-Spanish), then went on to study L.E.A. (Applied Foreign Languages), followed by an English degree in Languages, Literature and Civilizations of English-speaking countries, with options in Italian and Polish.

And then?

And then turn to teaching in English and helping others to communicate.

Now a qualified translator, I'm still at it!

My career paths

👩‍🏫 1998 – 2022:

  • Capes passed, I'm a M.E.N (Ministère de l'Éducation nationale) secondary school teacher.
  • I design international projects to put students in touch with their peers and give life and purpose to the teaching of a foreign language.

📶 2015 – 2021:

  • I work as a visiting lecturer at I.U.T Geii (Technical college, IT/electronics engineering, Bordeaux). The challenge: to help university students on technical courses to speak English for professional purposes.
  • For the Cned (Centre national d'éducation à distance), I write the précis of the new program for the LLCE speciality I teach. I'm practicing new writing skills.

🛕 2016 – 2020:

  • I'm the architect of a unique project. I set up a partnership with Sarala Birla Academy in Bangalore (India): bilateral educational programs, students on physical exchange, meeting each other, all in English.
  • Writing and speaking as a basis for progress.

*********************************************************************  Puis vint la pandémie…et la mise entre parenthèse du projet.

👩‍🎓  2020 – 2021 :

  • Still working as a teacher, I'm taking Edvenn's Translator certification course - second career path activated. 🎯
  • Because life also means returning to our first love: translation!

  • I've set up my own freelance business sgrenier.traductions and set off on my own!
  • I've joined professional associations: the S.F.T (Société française des traducteurs), the North West Translators'Network and the ITI_French Network.
  • Committedly involved with the S.F.T, former elected member of Délégation Aquitaine (SFT regional delegation).
  • I learn Japanese, attending a weekly evening class.
  • I am in demand as a speaker at post-baccalaureate schools (IT, construction, QSE, cybersecurity and HR). Teaching how to communicate will always be a part of my life.
